Environmental construction supervision (UBB) is an increasingly important field of activity, especially for larger construction projects. Even before a construction site goes into operation, the UBB team checks whether all specifications from planning law and the legal provisions of nature conservation and environmental protection are taken into account in the implementation planning. As contact persons for the topic "environment", the experts accompany and control the construction process. In May, our staff member Anna Binczik from the nature conservation and landscape planning group was certified by Deutsche Bahn AG as an "environmental construction supervisor - nature conservation" after successfully passing an aptitude test.
Activities of environmental construction supervision in the field of nature conservation (construction preparation)
- Control of resettlement measures or other protective measures before the start of construction,
- Control of monitoring during construction (selection of areas, performance of reference surveys),
- Review of new evidence of strictly protected species after decision-making, if necessary initiation of an emergency programme for these species,
- in the event of imminent -unauthorised- environmental damage, immediate instructions for damage limitation to the site management.
Activities of the Environmental Construction Supervision in the field of nature conservation (Actual
Surveillance):
- Control of compliance with general nature conservation regulations (e.g. ban on felling during the vegetation period),
- Monitoring of resettlement measures and other avoidance and protection measures during the construction phase,
- Monitoring and, if necessary, initiating the adjustment of construction zones.
This means that we now fulfil the prerequisite for use on DB construction projects. Work has already started on two projects and more will follow shortly.
