M&P Hagen: Major project for the electrification of a railway line

InDesign Post square Template 7

As part of a major project along a nearly 20 km long section of railway line 2263 from Wesel to Bocholt, DB Netz AG is currently planning the electrification of the entire line. The electrification will be carried out by erecting overhead line systems (OLA). As a rule, the catenary masts will be founded on piles.

In addition, it is planned to construct edge paths along the tracks. The resulting track ballast is to be processed by ballast cleaning and partially disposed of. Modernisation and expansion work is taking place in areas of level crossings and stations. Here, additional excavation masses of soil, track ballast and asphalt are produced, which cannot be reused in the construction project and are therefore to be subsequently installed or disposed of.

For the excess masses of excavated soil, construction rubble, track ballast and asphalt, a waste analysis was required during construction. Due to a lack of space in comparison with the large expected excavation masses, it was necessary to carry out the sampling not only during construction, but also in advance of the construction project, quasi in-situ.

Our branch office in Hagen was commissioned to carry out the planning of the building foundation as well as the field and laboratory investigations and the preparation of the geotechnical and waste management report.

The subsoil investigation and waste engineering investigations are currently being carried out by Mull und Partner's in-house project management and the results are being coordinated with DB E&C's waste engineering BÜW. The investigations began in November 2020 and will continue until August 2021.
