WHAT-WE-DO: Unexpected explosive ordnance finds, contaminants, foundation components and other building remains that can lead to significantly deviating subsoil conditions are a horror scenario for those responsible for construction. It is not uncommon for such discoveries to lead to a construction standstill.
In order to avoid the risk of such shutdowns, looking into the past is often a first step for us in larger construction projects to be able to assess the occurrence of potential environmental damage and the risks it poses. As an engineering company, we employ historians for this purpose who focus on our project goals.
Our team of experts can currently look back on around 25 years of research into wartime events and industrial uses in Germany in national and international archives (including the USA, UK and Russia). In order to be able to use the huge amount of information in a targeted manner, a comprehensive digital information system is continuously maintained. It contains over two million pages of historical documents, more than 10,000 historical military and industrial sites as well as over 100,000 air raid events of WWII in Europe.
