M&P Nord supports with the planning, tendering and monitoring of explosive ordnance disposal measures
An architectural showpiece by ingenhoven architects, Düsseldorf, is being built in the harbour basin. The new structure is to be founded on more than 180 piles, which will be drilled up to 20 m into the water's bottom. In addition, 3 bridges will provide access. Furthermore, it will be possible to reach the building from the water side.
During World War II, the harbour area was bombed on a massive scale. Accordingly, there is a suspicion of explosive ordnance for the entire project, both in the water and in the area of the land-side connections. M&P Nord has developed an exploration and clearance concept and is currently working closely with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service NRW, RP Düsseldorf on the technical examination of the explosive ordnance.
From mid-May 2022, more than 180 bored pile sites will be checked with deep soundings. The work will be carried out from a floating pontoon and requires a high degree of precision. The same applies, of course, to all other explosive ordnance sounding services on water and on land.
As M&P Nord, we are pleased to be able to contribute to the success of this unique project.
