Since the beginning of 2020, Mull und Partner Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH (Osnabrück site) has been active in the DB construction project EÜ Oldersumer Maar as specialist construction supervisor for waste and soil. This also includes the pre- and post-exploration of the areas used by the construction operation.
As a result of the completion of the completely renewed flyover at railway km 340.324, the construction site installation areas (BE areas) of the construction measure must now be restored to their original condition. This requires extensive soil cultivation so that the soil functions are restored.
Soil function is understood as the performance of the soil as part of the ecosystem for humans and the environment due to its properties.
In the aftermath of such a construction project, soil compaction as a result of the application of construction road material and the driving of construction vehicles over the areas plays a role. This compaction must be broken up as best as possible afterwards, as the infiltration capacity and buffering properties of the soil are impaired by compaction.
During the entire project period from May 2020 to the completion of construction at the end of 2022, our soil scientist Moritz Lenz managed the area of conflict between technical construction, the location in a bird sanctuary with higher-value biotopes and environmental protection requirements. In close coordination with the responsible authorities, concepts for construction implementation were developed from the perspective of precautionary soil protection and their implementation was monitored. Our goal is to leave the construction site close to nature. "Engineering for a better tomorrow!
