This year, DCONex 2024 took place in Münster for the 11th time, having previously always been held in Essen. DCONex is a specialist congress and exhibition on the topic of pollutant management.
In a total of 15 thematic blocks with over 37 specialist presentations, the focus is on the responsible identification, assessment, remediation and disposal of pollutants in buildings, soils and the environment as a whole. The topics of sustainability, occupational safety and prevention play an important role here.
Among other things, the current developments in regulations and the diverse occurrence of pollutants such as asbestos, PCBs, PAHs etc. in building materials in older buildings in relation to refurbishment and demolition and the current issues and perspectives in asbestos analysis were a major topic. The latest developments in radon protection and dealing with mould were also presented, but new problems such as PFAS in existing buildings and chemical in situ remediation of soils and groundwater were also considered.
In addition to the specialist congress, an accompanying trade exhibition with over 30 exhibitors took place on both days. The various exhibition stands could be visited during the breaks and offered a variety of topics ranging from environmental laboratories, pollutant remediation technology and remediation and demolition planning to training and further education, specialist literature and associations.
This year, two employees of M&P Ingenieurgesellschaft Nord were able to take part in this exchange of experience and information as well as networking on the subject of building pollutants and take away many new impulses, contacts and ideas.
