Construction Site Atlas of the Broadband Centre Lower Saxony - Bremen (BZNB)
Broadband refers to access to the Internet with high transmission rates. It is irrelevant which connection type is used for data transmission.
BUND promotes the expansion of the broadband network in the private sector, provided the connection speed is below 30 MB/s.
In Lower Saxony, funding for broadband expansion in the districts and independent cities is provided through both an economic gap model and an operator model. In August 2018, the state of Lower Saxony adopted the Digitalisation Master Plan, which outlines the strategy for digital transformation:
"The basis of a successful transformation process into the digital age is an efficient infrastructure for all Lower Saxony. That is why we are investing in the digital infrastructure in an unprecedented expansion offensive. Our goal is to provide all households with gigabit-capable connections by 2025.
The Broadband Centre Lower Saxony-Bremen (BZNB) informs citizens, companies and municipalities in Lower Saxony and Bremen about broadband internet provision. As part of this task, the BZNB operates several atlases that provide information on broadband supply, among other things. In addition, a construction site and conduit register is maintained, in which municipalities can enter construction sites and conduits owned by the municipality.
- The Broadband Atlas of Lower Saxony maps broadband access in the state of Lower Saxony in as much detail as possible. The Broadband Atlas is unique for the German federal states in its attention to detail.
- The construction site atlas with empty pipe cadastre supplements the broadband atlas of Lower Saxony and shows synergy potentials for broadband expansion. An important point for this is the potential for co-laying. The construction site and empty pipe cadastre can be accessed via the following link:
