M&P Hagen accompanies the activation of the railway area Morsbach

The municipality of Morsbach (Oberbergischer Kreis, NRW) is planning to activate the railway area as part of the Regionale 2025 "Bergisches RheinLand" in cooperation with the ASS office (Architektur Stadtplanung Stadtentwicklung, Düsseldorf). For this purpose, a mixed building use is to be made possible.

The listed former station reception building is currently being renovated and is to be converted into a socio-cultural centre. Of the other buildings (3 commercial halls), one has already been demolished and the demolition of another is still planned. The third hall is to be preserved and converted. In addition, the tracks of the former terminus station are to be partly dismantled and partly renewed for possible re-use.

In 2018/19, our branch office in Hagen conducted a pollutant investigation for the buildings to be preserved and for the buildings to be deconstructed on the loading road, including the preparation of a deconstruction and disposal concept. Furthermore, a contaminated site report was prepared with an investigation of the suspected contaminated sites and a risk assessment as well as a waste assessment of the expected excavation masses and the track ballast.

Pollution in the soil, track ballast and groundwater in certain areas was further investigated and limited by our engineering company 2020. In particular, research was carried out in the area used by industry/commerce and historical mining in order to assess the potential transfer of pollutants from neighbouring areas. The development of a remediation plan in accordance with § 13 BBodSchG (Federal Soil Protection Act) is planned for spring 2021 in order to be able to regulate the planned remediation measures and material relocations in a binding manner, including the necessary official approvals.

The following services are provided by our branch in Hagen:

  • Extensive contaminated site and deconstruction investigations on the site
  • Elaboration of a deconstruction and disposal concept for the deconstruction of the standing halls or the renovation of the buildings to be preserved.
  • Preparation of a contaminated site report and a supplementary contaminated site report with quantity and cost estimates as a basis for the planned measures and the application for subsidies
  • Development of a remediation plan according to § 13 BBodSchG
