Amendment of the Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management Act (KrWG)
The amended Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management Act (KrWG) came into force on 29 October 2020 and primarily implements the amended European Waste Framework Directive and individual provisions of the Single-Use Plastics Directive. Furthermore, it serves the further development of the Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management Act with a focus on achieving optimised closed-loop recycling and resource conservation.
The main requirements of the Waste Framework Directive are, among others: Clarification of the requirements for the end of waste status, increase and recalculation of recycling rates for certain types of waste and further reduction of landfilling of waste, tightening and extension of separate collection obligations for waste for recovery/recycling as well as tightening of the mixing bans for hazardous waste.
These amendments are intended to promote improved closed-loop recycling by avoiding waste and increasing the proportion of recycled material.
Our qualified waste officers in accordance with § 59 KrWG from Mull und Partner Ingenieurgesellschaft will be happy to advise you on all issues relating to material flow management and the promotion of recycling quotas. You can find a contact in your area here: https://mup-group.com/standorte/
The amendment was made by Article 1 of the "Act on the Implementation of the Waste Framework Directive (WFD) of the European Union". Amendments to other laws and ordinances have also been adopted. Among others, this concerns the ElektroG, the VerpackG and the ChemG.
