Germany's largest demolition excavator on construction site in Lünen

WHAT-WE-DO: Germany's largest demolition excavator has been in operation on the former STEAG power plant site in Lünen since mid-February. It is carrying out part of the demolition work, which is being monitored and documented by staff from our offices in Hagen and Cologne.

The demolition excavator KMC 1600S from the Hagedorn company, which was specially manufactured for this deconstruction project - with a dead weight of 230 tonnes - can precisely carry out deconstruction work at heights of up to 60 metres. The colossus was delivered on a total of nine low-loaders. Over the next few weeks, it will dismantle existing buildings and separate deconstruction materials (especially steel).

The land areas of the former power plant will be revitalised after complete building demolition. A subsequent use as industrial and commercial space is planned.
