In Dillingen / Saar, the former Dillingen department stores' is currently being demolished. It had been empty for several years and was now to be demolished to clear the construction site.
In the run-up to the demolition, intensive static investigations and corresponding specifications for the demolition are necessary, as part of the building directly bordered the neighbouring development.
MuP Umwelttechnik drew up the specifications and supervised the awarding of the contract. Within the scope of the deconstruction work, we took over the technical construction management and supported the construction management of the building authority of the city of Dillingen.
Due to the adjacent buildings, the demolition work was carried out by means of sag cuts and manual demolition. Since the demolition site is located in the area of a pedestrian zone, the exposed concrete components were lifted out of the building using a cherry picker. The demolition curtain is used to protect adjacent traffic routes and road users during mechanical demolition. Due to traffic-related reasons and uncertainties regarding the subsequent use of the site, the basement walls remain on site. The basement walls were supported by means of steel constructions. The floor slab of the building was partially removed, exposing previously unknown, large foundation blocks. When intervening in the subsoil, groundwater drainage was used because of the groundwater, which at times was at the level of the basement floor slab. The basement pit was backfilled with natural material and compacted. Due to the winter weather conditions, the work to backfill the basement pit was interrupted in December 2022.
