Explosive ordnance contamination is a cost or risk factor in subsoil preparation. The proof that the project areas are free of explosive ordnance is provided by the developer. This proof is currently not subject to any known standards or quality assurance. In this context, the complexity of the causation scenarios and influencing processes as well as quality criteria were discussed.

Historical exploration is a necessary prerequisite for comprehensive preliminary exploration in order to obtain a comprehensive picture of the situation on the seabed and as a basis for technical exploration and to be able to better identify and explore possible hazards in order to avoid risks to personnel, equipment and project planning.
