"Plan. Decide. Delegate. Tackle. Rethink. Motivate. Giving space. Drawing boundaries. Being a role model. Showing courage. Sticking together. Leading the way. Pulling together. Achieving goals. Sailing"
For example, sailing is advertised as a team-building activity.
This was to be tried out on a small scale and so in October, M&P organised a special kind of Alster pleasure with all Hamburg members (M&P Ing. / M&P Energy / BIG). With two Valken, a small open keel boat with gaff sails, the Alster was explored on a beautiful autumn day. The boats are 6.50 m long and 2 m wide and offer space for up to 6 people. Leon (the dog) also had room. Also equipped with a life jacket, he accepted the challenge. Each boat was led by an experienced skipper.
The weather was mild and unusually calm for Hamburg, but the anticipation was great. So the boats were made ready to sail together and the departure manoeuvre was discussed.
But as soon as the boats had cast off, impatience set in - they were helped along! Because of the little wind, a mixture of paddling with sail support emerged. Along the way, the Hamburg skyline was viewed and explained to the new Hamburgers. Finally, however, the perseverance was rewarded and there was still enough wind to sail the one or other tack and jibe. The sails were operated by the M&Pers. In the course of the excursion, all positions were also changed so that everyone could try everything (and was allowed to paddle).
Finally, the sails were hauled in and the boats moved into the pits. Even if the sailing was a little too short: it was a shared experience beyond the daily work routine, with a lot of good humour in front of a great backdrop. The keywords Pull together, pull in the same direction and Goals reach were experienced this afternoon. Maybe again next season - with more wind?
