Whether dewatering, groundwater remediation, geotechnics, explosive ordnance disposal or soil protection: M&P offers holistic planning services for the construction of your excavation. The good and effective cooperation between the individual specialist areas was particularly evident in the Pelikan 2 North project. 🌁:
The Gundlach company is building apartment buildings including a two-storey underground car park on the site of the old Pelikan factory in Hannover-List. The associated excavation pit will be enclosed by a watertight shoring wall and excavated to a depth of about 10 m. The excavation pit is to be used for the construction of the new building. In particular, questions arose regarding the correct choice of shoring technology, the probing for explosive ordnance, the disposal of partially contaminated soils and the construction water management.
The history of the construction site repeatedly led to surprises. In addition to old inkwells and other anthropogenic fillings up to a depth of 2 m, disused canals and remains of foundations were also found. At times, additional excavation pits had to be constructed, including dewatering, in order to conduct explosive ordnance soundings.
At present, the construction water drainage system is being put into operation and the earthworks are continuing. Reinfiltration of the purified construction water on the adjacent area to the south will ultimately ensure a local improvement of the partly polluted groundwater. The "topping-out ceremony" will then be celebrated 10 metres below the top edge of the site.
Our team is looking forward to further exciting projects and would especially like to thank the developer ( for a great cooperation. 🛂
