Welcome Dr. Rolf Balthes 

Rolf Balthes is by nature He graduated from the University of Mainz in 1990 with a thesis on slope stability analyses in rock. Afterwards, he worked as a freelance geologist for the Ph. Holzmann AG and, in parallel, wrote a hydrogeological dissertation in cooperation with the Federal Institute of Hydrology on the long-term effects of the dumping of dredged material contaminated with heavy metals on groundwater.

After reunification, he founded a geotechnical engineering office in Leipzig with two partners in 1992 and has since worked at the interface of geotechnics, hydrogeology and contaminated sites. After the sale of the engineering office to FUGRO, an international geotechnical company, he passed through various functions in the field of geotechnics since 2000 and became director and head of FUGRO's geotechnics division. Consult GmbH Germany.

In 2012, Dr Balthes was elected to them Managing Director of the Fugro GeoConsulting France SA appointed in Paris. Since 2014 he was in Berlin as Fugro`s Regional Project Director for Europe, Africa and the Caspian region, has been increasingly active on the German market again since 2018.

Rolf Balthes was involved in numerous interdisciplinary offshore and Onshore - site investigations for national and international energy, infrastructure and construction projects. An integral part of his work is regular, active participation in technical conferences and collaboration in standards committees and working groups (DGGT, BSH, VBI).

Dr. Balthes has been since 1997 Ö.b.u.v. Expert for contaminated sites - investigation, evaluation (IHK Leipzig) and since 2003 expert according to § 18 BBodSchG, SG I-IV.
