Short description: With the planned stationing of the Airbus A 400 M transport aircraft at the Wunstorf military airfield in the area of responsibility of the State Construction Management of Lower Saxony, it is necessary to adapt the infrastructure. To this end, extensive expansion, new construction and conversion measures have been carried out on the existing buildings and technical equipment or are still being realised. Due to its previous use as a Wehrmacht airbase during the Second World War, the site is classified as contaminated with ordnance. History shows that the area was hit during bombing raids. The main cause is the burial of explosive ordnance. Explosive ordnance clearance is therefore necessary during construction work involving ground intervention. Computerised surface soundings, borehole soundings, explosive ordnance clearance during construction/at certain points during ground intervention and the use of a separation plant are used. M&P has been responsible for the necessary specialist construction management and local construction supervision of explosive ordnance clearance since 2012.
