Deconstruction planning and hazard assessment Muscator-Werke I and II, Düsseldorf

After the return of the properties of the insolvent feed manufacturer Muscator the planning for the further use of the area in Düsseldorf's commercial harbour has now begun. The plan is to retain the typical use of the port and thus strengthen the commercial port in the state capital overall.

The demolition of the former factory buildings is necessary for further use of the site. For this purpose, the existing buildings were examined by Mull und Partner Ingenieurgesellschaft GmbH with regard to contaminants in the building fabric and the materials resulting from the demolition were classified according to waste legislation.

The former factory site is a contaminated site, and the area is also listed as a contaminated landfill in the cadastre of the state capital Düsseldorf. For this reason, in addition to the above-mentioned deconstruction and disposal concept, soil investigations were also carried out for a risk assessment in accordance with the Federal Soil Protection Act (BBodSchG).

On the basis of the preceding investigations, the necessary services for the deconstruction can be put out to tender and the property can be handed over to a new user once all the necessary work has been completed.
