The aim of the investigation was to assess the condition of the existing building materials and to ensure compliance with modern building standards. Environmental regulations ensure.

As part of this process, around 70 samples were taken from various parts of the building structure. These samples underwent detailed laboratory analysis, which focussed on two main aspects: the identification of potential hazardous substances and the determination of the correct Building material classification according to the Waste legislation. This investigation was decisive for the further steps in both the historical building refurbishment as well as the environmentally friendly demolition of the other structures.

Adaptation to new environmental regulations

As the project progressed, changes to the legal requirements in the area of waste management led to increased scrutiny. The most significant of these changes was the adoption of the Ordinance on Substitute Building Materials on 1 August 2023, which requires a renewed Evaluation of the Building material classification made this necessary. The mineral building materials had to be reassessed to ensure that they complied with the new environmental regulations. The M&P Environmental Technology GmbH was once again commissioned to carry out the updated analyses, which confirms the project's commitment to both the Compliance with legal requirements as well as for ecological sustainability.

The investigation report: paving the way for the future

The results of the detailed environmental and structural investigations were summarised in a comprehensive Investigation report summarised. This report provided valuable insights and recommendations that will guide the project during the construction phase. The findings covered key aspects such as the safe handling of contaminants identified in the building materials and best practice for the Historical building renovation.
