Training between tanks and sample ammunition

FB2 in Munster

At the beginning of the year, Department 2 of Mull und Partner Ingenieurgesellschaft Nord went on an informative excursion to Munster to take an in-depth look at ground combat, tank technology and ammunition. In the morning, the group enjoyed a fascinating guided tour of the training collection of the armoured troop school at the Munster Tank Museum. There they were given detailed insights into the history of the development of tanks, from their beginnings to the modern versions, as well as their armament and tactical use during the First and Second World Wars. The opportunity to ask and discuss numerous questions contributed significantly to understanding. The further development of armour technology after the world wars was also examined in detail, leading to interesting insights.

After a short lunch break, the group immersed themselves in an informative presentation on the history of the Munster-Nord military training area and the production of explosives there. This historical reappraisal of the site provided important contextual information and reinforced the understanding of the significance of the location. The crowning glory of the day was an exciting guided tour through the Bundeswehr's extensive collection of ammunition samples. Here, the participants had the opportunity to view and even handle a variety of ammunition types from the two world wars - from classic bullets and grenades to anti-aircraft shells, rockets and bombs. The fuses on display and their function complemented the experience and provided further exciting insights.

Overall, the excursion to Munster was an extremely enriching experience for Department 2, which not only deepened their specialist knowledge, but also broadened their understanding of the historical and technological aspects of ground combat, armour technology and ammunition. The diverse insights and findings will undoubtedly contribute to tackling future projects and tasks with a broader knowledge base.
