Comprehensive sustainability - presentation of the land conversion Lok-Viertel Os

New Project 2023 05 30T123534.122

As part of the ITVA Contaminated Sites Symposium in Wuppertal, Mull und Partner Ingenieurgesellschaft presented the land conversion of the former Osnabrück freight and marshalling yard. The inner-city area of around 22 ha, which has now lain fallow for more than 20 years, will be developed over the next few years as a new district with residential and commercial use by the Lok-Viertel-OS GmbH of the Aloys & Brigitte Coppenrath Foundation, which was founded especially for this purpose. The project presented by the two managing directors Thomas Hartmann and Matthias Wieschemeyer consistently follows the principle of sustainability - ecological, economic and social aspects shape the design and make the Lok-Viertel-OS interesting for a wide variety of investors and users.

The values lived out in the project also contributed to the fact that Lower Saxony's Minister of the Environment Christian Meyer was able to hand over a funding notification for land conversion in the amount of € 8.3 million from the state of Lower Saxony to the managing director of Lok-Viertel-OS GmbH, Mr Hoofe, at the end of last year. The application for funding was processed by Mull & Partner Ingenieurgesellschaft on behalf of Lok-Viertel-OS and received a positive decision from the N-Bank.

Under the supervision of Mull und Partner Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH Nord, the conversion of the site, including the clearance of explosive ordnance, will take place over the next 2 years. In addition to the redevelopment, terrain modelling will also be carried out, which at the same time will be the basis for the development of the neighbourhood with many ecological aspects. A central element is the sensitive handling of water as a protected resource. Through targeted measures based on the so-called sponge city principle, precipitation water is kept in the neighbourhood and contributes to sustainable green growth and natural cooling through evaporative cooling.

We are looking forward to an exciting and groundbreaking project, not only for Osnabrück.
