Under the slogan: "140 kilometres of climate protection by rail: Oldenburg-Wilhelmshaven line electrified", the total electrical commissioning of the DB Oldenburg - Wilhelmshaven extension line was celebrated on Monday, 12 December 2022. In eleven years, the formerly single-track line became a modernised, double-track and electrified railway for passenger and freight traffic. Along the route to the Jade-Weser Port, 122,000 metres of track, 332,000 tonnes of ballast and 73 points were installed. Five new railway bridges and three new road bridges, one new platform bridge and 36 modernised level crossings were created. Only one railway bridge in Oldenburg and remaining work are still outstanding.

Mull und Partner Ingenieurgesellschaft is carrying out the waste-technical construction supervision and thus the material flow management of the accumulating mineral waste within the scope of the construction project. The focus is on the reuse/recycling of excavation materials. With our expertise, we ensure the smooth and legally compliant handling of construction waste.

The commissioning ceremony of the now electrified railway line was attended by DB board member Berthold Huber, transport state secretary Michael Theurer and economics minister Olaf Lies as keynote speakers.

DB Infrastructure Management Board Berthold Huber describes the construction project as a technical masterpiece for climate protection in which various specialist engineers had to solve complex tasks. The expansion makes it possible for the freight of about 2,000 lorries a day to be transferred from road to rail. This saves a massive amount of CO2 and relieves the burden on roads and the environment.

In his speech, Lower Saxony's Minister for Economic Affairs, Construction, Transport and Digitalisation, Olaf Lies, spoke about the starting signal for environmentally friendly and more efficient container transports to and from Jade-Weser-Port Wilhelmshaven. The people of the region and the almost 8,000 people employed in the port spectrum would benefit from this measure.

We, as Mull und Partner, are proud to have supported this large-scale project with our know-how in the field of soil and waste management. In total, we have supported the recycling and disposal of about 1,500,000 tonnes of soil material, which was generated during soil improvement measures.
